The role of typography in brand perception
Type is the part of a brand people read before they consciously look at it. It sets tone faster than colour and carries more of the workload than almost any other element of an identity.
Typography is casting, not decoration
Voice, before words
A typeface communicates temperament — precise, warm, institutional, irreverent — before a single sentence is processed. Choosing one is closer to casting an actor than to picking a font.
The scale matters more than the family
Most typographic problems are not the wrong typeface; they are too many sizes, inconsistent line height, and no rhythm between levels. A tight scale makes an ordinary family look considered.

Legibility is a trust signal
Comfortable measure, generous line height, and real hierarchy tell a reader that someone cared whether they got through the page. That impression transfers directly to the brand.
Readers rarely name typography as the reason they trust something. They simply stay longer, understand more, and leave with the message intact.
When reviewing a layout, start with the plainest question: Is this comfortable to read, or only interesting to look at?
